Leadership Rotation for November 3, 2026: Relative Strength Still Matters More Than the Narrative
A relative-strength read on BTC near $77,693, ETH near $2,270, where leadership is rotating, and whether that rotation is broadening into a real trend.
Price has stabilised for the moment. BTC is around $77,693, ETH near $2,270, but the market still reads more like a rebound test than a clean reset.
The macro backdrop is not providing a single clean catalyst, so price structure and options positioning deserve more weight.. The rebound matters, but it is still sitting on top of damaged structure and needs more proof than one green session. The main question is whether leadership is broadening or just rotating from one pocket to another.

The macro backdrop is not providing a single clean catalyst, so price structure and options positioning deserve more weight.. The rebound matters, but it is still sitting on top of damaged structure and needs more proof than one green session. The main question is whether leadership is broadening or just rotating from one pocket to another.
Leadership is rotating, not broadening cleanly
Neither BTC nor ETH has won leadership cleanly. BTC is -4.6% on the week and ETH is -3.8%, which leaves the tape looking rotational rather than unified.
Participation also remains uneven. BTC is trading at 0.05x of its 20-day average volume versus 0.04x for ETH, while ETH still carries roughly 12.6 extra vol points.
In a pressured tape, unstable leadership usually means weak confidence rather than hidden strength. That keeps traders focused on who is actually absorbing supply, not who bounced first.
- -BTC 1-week / 1-month: -4.6% / -10.8%.
- -ETH 1-week / 1-month: -3.8% / -17.1%.
BTC still sets the quality bar
BTC options still carry real size. Total open interest sits near $17.83B, 24-hour volume is around $3.79B, and at-the-money implied volatility is near 37.4%.
The put-call open-interest ratio is 0.75, with the heaviest call interest clustered around $80,000, $120,000, $90,000 and put protection concentrated near $60,000, $40,000, $74,000.
The rebound is useful, but the structure still needs to prove it can absorb supply near the obvious stress zones before the tone can improve.

ETH can lead bursts without owning the tape
ETH is still trading with a richer volatility bill. Total ETH options open interest is around $2.59B, 24-hour volume is near $502.51M, and ATM IV is sitting around 49.9%.
That leaves ETH carrying roughly 12.6 volatility points more than BTC. The spread says the market is still willing to own upside, but it is charging extra for uncertainty outside the cleaner Bitcoin trend.
ETH can rebound, but the richer premium says traders still want proof that the tape is stabilising rather than just bouncing.
- -ETH put-call OI ratio: 0.47.

Macro only matters if rotation starts confirming it
The macro calendar is not doing the heavy lifting here, which is exactly why the price structure matters more than the noise. When there is no dominant policy impulse, the options board usually gives the cleaner read.
That does not make macro irrelevant. It simply means traders should pay closer attention to who is still paying for protection and how fast leverage is being repriced.
What would turn rotation into trend
The rebound needs BTC to stay above $76,265 and ETH to defend $2,174 while IV cools rather than re-accelerates.
If that sequence holds, the tone can improve. If not, this still looks more like relief than repair.
The short version
- -This tape is better read through relative strength and leadership rotation than through aggregate market headlines.
- -BTC options remain the cleaner read, with ATM IV near 37.4% and key strike interest around $80,000, $120,000, $90,000 / $60,000, $40,000, $74,000.
- -Stabilisation only starts to look credible if BTC can hold above $76,265 and ETH stops sliding back toward $2,174.
